Paris, France - The African Legal Support Facility (ALSF) is at the forefront of advancing legal capacity in Africa with the goal of promoting sustainable development on the African Continent. As part of its commitment to this mission, Ms. Safaa Bargouchi, Legal Counsel and Knowledge Hub Officer at the ALSF, participated in the 2023 Africa Infrastructure Fellowship Program (AIFP), delivering an in-depth training session on the critical topic of contingent liabilities in the context of debt management and infrastructure project development.
The AIFP, developed through a collaboration between Meridiam, a global investor and asset manager, and the Global Infrastructure Hub (GIH), a non-profit organization formed by the G20, is a crucial initiative with the overarching goal of empowering African government infrastructure specialists. The AIFP equips such government specialists with the knowledge and skills necessary to facilitate increased investment in a broad range of infrastructure development projects, ultimately driving economic growth and progress in Africa.
Ms. Bargouchi's participation in the 2023 AIFP illustrates one of the ways in which the ALSF works to enhance legal capacity for Africa's sustainable development.
About the ALSF
Hosted by the African Development Bank since 2008, the ALSF assists African governments in negotiating complex commercial transactions, providing legal and technical assistance, and developing capacity building tools in the key sectors of energy, infrastructure and public-private partnerships, natural resources, extractives industries and sovereign finance.
