Leria Arinaitwe is a Legal Counsel and the Energy Sector Lead at the African Legal Support Facility. She is responsible for the coordination and implementation of the Facility’s transactional support to African Governments and energy utilities for the development, procurement, and financing of energy projects.
Leria possesses over a decade of post-qualification experience in developing and negotiating significant projects on the African Continent. Prior to joining the ALSF, Leria worked as a Legal Manager at Uganda’s National Oil Company where she participated in the structuring and negotiation of the company’s project portfolio across the petroleum value chain. Prior to this role, she worked as a Legal Analyst with Rwanda Development Board’s Strategic Investment Unit where she led the negotiation of strategic projects on behalf of the Government of Rwanda. She also worked as an associate with S&L Advocates, a member of DLA Piper Africa.
Leria was called to the Ugandan Bar in 2012. She holds a Master of Laws Degree from the London School of Economics, a Bachelor of Laws Degree from Makerere University, and a Post Graduate Diploma from Uganda’s Law Development Centre where she was the recipient of the Attorney General’s prize.
